Christine works in traditional arts disciplines and in new media arts. She likes to combine the known with the new to make photographs, paintings, and stories for canvas, paper and screen.

She says her interdisciplinary approach to art is about wide-eyed wonder and creative play with possibilities, about putting stuff where people say it does not belong, making messes, getting dirty, falling down, having a good cry, speaking her mind, laughing until her sides hurt, causing smiles, observing and asking questions. She loves working with texture and layers, which she thinks is symbolic of the sometimes smooth, often gritty, complexity of our lives.

Born in the Pennsylvania Anthracite Region in 1966, Goldbeck earned a Bachelor of Art degree in creative writing and history and a Master of Fine Arts-Interdisciplinary Arts (MFA-IA). She owns Arts on Union, a gallery and studio in Middletown, PA.

Think of the natural elements it takes to grow a garden. This is what inspired Stepping Stones. Acrylic, watercolor, rice paper and ink are among the media used in this textured painting.
